چکیده

INFLUENCE OF CATARACT SURGERY ON MEASUREMENTS OF SPECTRAL DOMAIN OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY Bambo et al evaluated the effect of uncomplicated cataract phacoemulsification on the measurements of macular and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) using two spectral domain (SD) optical coherence tomography (OCT) instruments-Cirrus OCT (Zeiss) and Spectralis OCT (Heidelberg)-in 60 eyes healthy subjects. The RNFL measurements differed before and after surgery, and most of these differences were statistically significant. Macular thickness measurements using the Spectralis OCT were not significantly different between the two visits, whereas the differences found with the Cirrus OCT were statistically significant. The authors conclude that presence of cataracts affects RNFL and macular measurements performed with SD-OCT.

بررسی پایایی و تکرار پذیری دستگاه Spectral domain optical coherence tomography در اندازه گیری ضخامت ماکولا در چشمهای طبیعی قبل و بعد از گشاد کردن مردمک

Background: optical coherence tomography is one of the most valuable imaging techniques in the evaluation of macula. Objective: to investigate the repeatability and reproducibility of OCT  in measuring the macular thickness in normal eyes before and after pupil dilation. Methods: A total of 44 eyes were enrolled. All subjects underwent macular thickness measurement using the Cirrus SD-OCT ma...

Retinal Ganglion Cell Complex in Alzheimer Disease: Comparing Ganglion Cell Complex and Central Macular Thickness in Alzheimer Disease and Healthy Subjects Using Spectral Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography

Introduction: Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia worldwide. The modalities to diagnose AD are generally expensive and limited. Both the central nervous system (CNS) and the retina are derived from the cranial neural crest; therefore, changes in retinal layers may reflect changes in the CNS tissue. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine can show delicate retinal layer...

Retinal and choroidal thickness after femtosecond laser-assisted and standard phacoemulsification

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to compare the short-term changes in retina and choroidal tissue after femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) and standard phacoemulsification (PE) surgery. METHODS In all, 25 eyes undergoing FLACS and 27 eyes undergoing PE surgery were included in this nonrandomized, retrospective, cross-sectional study. Central retinal thickness (CRT) and c...

Effect of cataract surgery on optical coherence tomography measurements and repeatability in patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.

PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of uncomplicated cataract phacoemulsification on macular and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness using two spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) instruments, Cirrus OCT and Spectralis OCT, in patients having non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) without retinopathy, and to assess the reliability of the OCT measurements before and afte...

Novel method of assessing delamination of the anterior lens capsule using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography

BACKGROUND Delamination of the anterior lens capsule producing a double-ring sign during continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis is commonly associated with true exfoliation syndrome. METHODS Previous studies have concentrated on light- and transmission-electron microscopic features and correlated this with the histopathology of these anterior capsules. To our knowledge, this is the first report...
